G and T Ready. Ages 4 to 6

G and T Ready is our Pre-K program for children ages 4 to 6. By this age, children are ready to read, write, count, and plan their own projects. Our job is to meet them where they are and stretch them without rushing.

Personalized Path to Kindergarten

Every G and T Ready child gets a personalized learning plan. We assess reading readiness, number sense, fine motor skills, and social confidence at entry and every 10 weeks after. The plan shifts as the child grows. No two children leave with the exact same skills, which is how it should be.

What About the NYC G and T Program

New York City dropped the kindergarten Gifted and Talented test in 2021. Children are now nominated by their pre-K teacher, or interviewed by the DOE if they are not in a public pre-K. There is nothing to drill for. What gets noticed is a child who reasons out loud, sticks with a hard task, and talks easily with an adult. That is what G and T Ready builds every day. Focus Building. Project Continuity.

Our G and T Ready days include longer project blocks than younger classrooms. 45 to 60 minutes of sustained work. Children finish what they start. They learn to push through boredom, ask for help when stuck, and revise their own work. These habits matter more than any single kindergarten-readiness checklist.

Small Group, Real Feedback

Small groups with a lead teacher and support staff. Every child gets named, specific feedback multiple times per day. No drifting in the back. We are still finalizing staffing, so ask Susanna for the current group size in this room rather than trusting a number on a website.

Hold a Place in G and T Ready

Joining the waitlist is free. Takes about 30 seconds. When you're ready to commit, after you talk with Director Susanna and accept a place, a $500 refundable deposit holds your child's spot in this room. Withdraw more than 30 days before your start date and you get it back in full. Enroll and it goes toward your first month's tuition. If we don't open on schedule, you get all of it back.
