A preschool for curious 3 to 6 year olds

Your child might tell long stories at home but stay quiet around other children. They might count every stair on the way to McCarren Park, or spend most of an afternoon drawing. Preschool gives those interests somewhere to go. Children get practice listening to another person's idea, explaining their own, and staying with a task when the first attempt doesn't work.

We're a fit for families looking for a learning program before kindergarten, with care built into the day. Children don't need to arrive reading or writing. No admission tests. For a younger child whose main needs are settling in and daily care, start with our daycare in Greenpoint for ages 2 to 3.

Bright Minds and G&T Ready

• Bright Minds, ages 3 to 4. Questions lead to small projects, stories, sorting games, and shared play. Children practice using words with peers, taking turns, and making choices in a group.
• G&T Ready, ages 4 to 6. Reading readiness, early math, reasoning games, and classroom habits prepare children for the next step. Trying an unfamiliar activity and asking for help matter alongside letters and numbers.

What learning looks like here

Howard Gardner Multiple Intelligences is our curriculum framework. Teachers offer children several ways into an idea: words, music, movement, pictures, building, and conversation. A counting activity might begin with blocks, then become a rhythm game. A story can lead to drawing or acting out a scene with a friend.

We call our approach Discover, Develop, Shine. First, notice what draws a child in. Then use that interest to practice a new skill. Give the child room to show what they can do. We don't treat an early preference as a permanent label. A child who loves movement also needs opportunities to listen, draw, and solve a puzzle.

The preschool day, from arrival to pickup

The planned school day runs Monday through Thursday, 9 AM to 4 PM, and Friday, 9 AM to 3 PM. Early drop-off from 8 AM and late pickup until 6 PM are available. Check the arrangement with the team if your workday needs those hours.

• Morning. Welcome, movement, and a group conversation help children settle. Stories and activities follow, with time to work on an idea and talk about it.
• Middle of the day. Play and movement balance focused work. Lunch brought from home and a rest or quiet period give children a break before afternoon activities.
• Afternoon. Creative workshops and free choice play leave room to return to a project, build with friends, or try another material before pickup.

This is the planned rhythm, with activities adjusted for age and the group. Meals aren't included. Families pack food from home and discuss their child's needs with the team before starting.

Small groups and a director you can meet

Our group for ages 3 to 4 has 10 children with a teacher and an aide. Total capacity is 40 children across three rooms. Lead teachers must be licensed. Director Susanna Isakova brings more than 15 years of experience in early childhood and special education.

Bring a specific example when you meet Susanna. Perhaps your child loves group play but gets frustrated sharing materials, or enjoys books but avoids drawing. That conversation helps you judge how our approach fits your child. Ask about the room for their age, how teachers follow progress, and how they explain the day to parents.

Part of your Greenpoint routine

Find us at 16 McGuinness Blvd South, Brooklyn, NY 11222, at McGuinness and Broome Street. McCarren Park and Manhattan Avenue are nearby neighborhood landmarks. Families using the G train can consider Nassau Avenue and Greenpoint Avenue stations when planning the trip from home or work.

Try the journey with your child when you visit. Include the walk from your door and the trip after pickup, especially if another adult handles afternoons.
