Daycare in Greenpoint, Brooklyn
If you are a parent in Greenpoint looking at daycare options for your child ages 2 to 6, this page is for you. It covers what matters when you compare: curriculum, hours, licensing, cost structure, safety, and how Gifted and Talented Kids thinks about early childhood differently from what you will see elsewhere on McGuinness.
Why Greenpoint is a Good Place to Raise a Young Child
Greenpoint sits on the northern edge of Brooklyn. Small enough to feel like a neighborhood, big enough to have real services. McGolrick Park and McCarren Park bracket the area for outdoor play. The G train and bus routes connect to Williamsburg and Long Island City. The daycare options have grown quickly in the last three years as young families moved in, which is good for choice and harder for decision making.
What to Look For in a Greenpoint Daycare
The questions that actually matter when you tour:
- Is the space accessible. Ground floor and step free versus walkups and stairs.
- How close to an outdoor park. Daily outdoor time is a developmental essential.
- What is the teacher to child ratio at each age group.
- Who is the Director and what is their background.
- Is the curriculum a real framework or a brochure word.
- What happens when your child is having a hard day.
Our Approach at Gifted and Talented Kids
We built our program around Howard Gardner's theory of Multiple Intelligences. Eight different ways children learn: linguistic, logical, musical, spatial, bodily, interpersonal, intrapersonal, naturalist. Our job is to notice which way your child learns best, then build a day around their strengths. Not treat every child the same and hope it works.
Our framework is called Discover, Develop, Shine. In the first weeks we watch carefully to learn who your child is. Then we design activities that grow their natural strengths while building weaker areas. By the time they leave us for kindergarten, they can tell you what they are good at and they believe it.
