Join Our Founding Team
We are hiring early childhood educators to build something from scratch in Greenpoint.
About Us
Gifted and Talented Kids is a new licensed preschool and daycare opening September 8, 2026 at 16 McGuinness Boulevard South in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Fifty-four seats across four age-based programs for children 2 to 6. Our curriculum is built around Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences framework and a practice we call Discover, Develop, Shine.
Our Director is Susanna Isakova. Fifteen-plus years in early childhood education with a degree specializing in Special Education (birth through second grade). She is hiring the founding team now so the people who open the doors in September are the people who built the classrooms.
Open Roles
Teaching Assistant / Caregiver with Teacher-Track Path
Start as a caregiver or teaching assistant while we complete construction and licensing. Work directly with our Director on curriculum design, classroom setup, and family onboarding. When the program opens in September 2026, promote into a lead teacher role for one of our four programs (Little Explorers, Bright Minds, G and T Ready, After School Enrichment).
What you will do:
- Support curriculum build-out for your assigned age group (Multiple Intelligences stations, materials, daily structure)
- Help onboard waitlist families through video calls and preview tours
- Assist with classroom setup, organization, and licensing prep before opening
- Move into lead teacher role when program launches, run daily classroom with Director oversight
What you bring:
- Real love for 2-to-6-year-olds and a calm presence around them
- Prior experience in a daycare, preschool, or as a caregiver (professional nanny work counts, Special Ed experience a plus)
- Willingness to grow into a lead teacher role (certification support available if you do not yet have ECE credentials)
- CPR and first aid certified or willing to become certified before September
- Reliable, on time, respectful of families of all backgrounds
- English fluent (Polish, Spanish, or Russian a plus, not required)
Lead Preschool Teacher (Certified)
If you hold current NYS teacher certification (Early Childhood, Birth through Grade 2, or equivalent) and are ready to run a classroom from day one, we would love to talk. Competitive salary above our starting range, direct partnership with the Director on curriculum design.
Compensation and Benefits
- Starting $22 to $30 per hour based on experience (pre-opening)
- Wage increase to $50,000 to $65,000 annual for lead teacher role when program opens September 2026
- Paid sick leave per NYC requirements
- Professional development stipend for CDA / ECE certification
- Small group teaching (1:5 for 2s, 1:7 for 3s, 1:8 for 4-5s) under New York State OCFS standards
- Real input on curriculum, environment, and culture from day one
Why This Role
You are not a replacement hire. You are a founding team member. The way we run our mornings, handle transitions, talk to families, and name what each child is learning: you help design all of it. The classroom that opens in September will have your fingerprints on it.
Most teachers take a job at a school that has already decided who it is. Here, we are still deciding. If you have opinions about how a 3-year-old should be treated and you want them to land, this is the place.
How to Apply
Send your resume, a short paragraph about why you want this role, and any references to giftedandtalentednyc@gmail.com with subject line “Founding Team Application”.
We respond to every application within one week. If we are a mutual fit, the next step is a video call with Susanna.
Apply NowWho We Are
A small, family-run Greenpoint business. Not a corporate chain. Decisions happen in a room, not a boardroom. We hire slowly, we pay fairly, and we keep the people we like around. If you are at your current job wondering whether early childhood education can feel intentional again, come talk.
Gifted and Talented Kids is an equal opportunity employer. We evaluate applicants based on qualifications, character, and fit for the role, without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or any other protected characteristic.
