What ages does Gifted and Talented Kids serve?

Our three day programs cover ages 2 to 5. Little Explorers (2 to 3), Bright Minds (3 to 4), G and T Ready (4 to 6). After School Enrichment is a separate program for ages 5 to 7, for children who are already in school.

When do you open?

We open in January 2027. From the first week of November we hold an Open House one day every week at 16 McGuinness Blvd S, so you see the rooms before you decide. The exact first day goes to waitlist families first.

How do I join the waitlist?

Visit our waitlist page. The six Founding places in the 2 to 3 room come with the rate locked for twelve months. No deposit required to join. Takes about 30 seconds.

Is there a deposit to join the waitlist?

No. Joining the waitlist is free and requires no deposit. A refundable deposit comes later, after you see the space and accept a place.

How much does daycare cost?

Full-day tuition starts at $2,700 a month, after-school from $2,200, tiered by age. Full breakdown here.

Do you offer sibling discounts?

Yes. 10 percent off for 2 enrolled siblings, 15 percent off for 3 or more.

What hours are you open?

Monday through Thursday 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Friday 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Early drop-off from 8:00 AM and late pickup until 6:00 PM available at $40 per hour. After School Enrichment runs 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

Do you accept 3-K or Pre-K for All vouchers?

We are a private program, not a 3-K for All or Pre-K for All site, so we do not enroll through the free city programs. We offer our own sibling discount and six Founding places with the rate locked for twelve months.

What is your teaching approach?

Howard Gardner Multiple Intelligences. Every child has different strengths. We Discover them, Develop them, and help kids Shine with confidence. Small groups, purposeful play, outdoor time, and individualized planning.

Is the program bilingual?

English is our program language. We are not a bilingual or dual-language program, and we do not run a structured second-language curriculum. Children who speak another language at home are warmly welcomed and supported.

Do you prepare kids for the NYC Gifted and Talented test?

There is no kindergarten G and T test any more. Children are nominated by their pre-K teacher, or interviewed by the DOE if they are outside a public pre-K. Our G and T Ready room builds the reasoning, language and self control an evaluator looks for, through play rather than drilling. Read more on G and T testing prep.

Where is Gifted and Talented Kids located?

16 McGuinness Blvd S, Brooklyn NY 11222. Corner of McGuinness Blvd and Broome St in Greenpoint. Walking distance to the G train at Greenpoint Avenue.

Do you provide meals?

We provide water and a nut-free snack daily. We do not provide lunch or hot meals. Our kitchen is not licensed for food service, so families pack a lunch. We accommodate common allergies, and families with specific dietary needs can speak with us.

Is there outdoor play?

Yes. Daily outdoor time at McGolrick Park (a 4 minute walk) and a dedicated outdoor play area at our facility.

Do you offer summer programs?

We open in January 2027, so there is no camp in 2026. Summer Camp runs in 2027 and sign up opens in November. Summer places in Greenpoint go early, which is why we start that early.

Can I tour before enrolling?

Yes. From the first week of November we hold an Open House one day a week, 10 AM to 3 PM, and you walk in without an appointment. Before that Susanna takes fifteen minute video calls from the middle of October. Plan your visit here.

Who is the director?

Susanna Isakova. 15 plus years in early childhood education. Greenpoint resident.

How many children per classroom?

Six children in the 2 to 3 room, with a teacher and an assistant. Ten in the 3 to 4 room, with a teacher and a helper. Forty children in the whole building. Susanna gives you that number for your age group at the Open House, in writing if you want it. We would rather hand you a real number for your room than post an average that flatters us.

What does the school calendar look like, and how many tuition payments are there per year?

Tuition is billed monthly, due on the first, and the first month is due before your start date. The full 2026 to 2027 calendar goes out to enrolled families once our opening date is confirmed, and the draft comes with your enrollment agreement so you can read it before you sign. We would rather you see it than guess.

What is your sick policy?

A written sick policy comes with your enrollment packet, before you pay anything, and it follows New York City health guidance on fever, vomiting and rashes. Read it on paper. Do not enroll anywhere, ours included, on a verbal answer to this question.

What happens if I need to withdraw after enrolling?

Notice requirements and refund terms after your child starts are set out in the enrollment agreement, and you get that agreement to read before you pay anything. The withdrawal clause is the part to read twice.

Does my child need to be potty trained for the 2s room?

No. Little Explorers serves ages 2 to 3, and plenty of children that age are not trained yet. Parents provide diapers, wipes and a change of clothes, and we work on it at your child's pace, alongside you.

How will I hear about my child's day?

A short note on your child's day at pickup, plus real conversation at drop off and pickup with the person who was actually with your child. A longer update from the Director every two weeks. The specific app or channel we will use day to day is not locked in yet, so ask Susanna what she has settled on.
