About Gifted and Talented Kids

Gifted and Talented Kids is a premium daycare and preschool opening Fall 2026 in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. We serve children ages 2 through 6 at 16 McGuinness Blvd S, a ground floor space with step free access from the street.

Susanna has spent over 15 years in early childhood education. She chose this field as a career, not a stopover, and it shows in how she thinks about each child. Not as a group. As individuals who need different things on different days.

A Letter From Our Director

Hi, I'm Susanna Isakova, and I'll be the Director here at Gifted and Talented Kids.

I've spent more than 15 years in early childhood education. I picked this work on purpose and never wanted to leave it. Over those years I've watched a lot of two and three year olds walk through a classroom door for the first time, usually holding a parent's hand a little too tight. I've also watched most of them, a few weeks later, run in without looking back. That moment is the reason I do this.

People ask me why I'd open a new school instead of staying somewhere comfortable. The honest answer is that I wanted a place built around one idea, with nothing watered down. The idea is simple. Every child is already gifted at something. My job, and my teachers' job, is to find out what, and then build the day around it.

Children don't all learn the same way, and we don't teach them as if they do. One child sorts buttons by color for twenty minutes and is teaching herself math. Another learns the same idea through a song, or by building a tower, or by acting it out with a friend. A child who can't sit still for a worksheet is often the one who solves the puzzle nobody else could. Our teachers watch for how each child learns best, then give them more of it.

The first few weeks your child is with us, we mostly watch and take notes. We're learning your specific child, not a group average. After that we build their days around what they're drawn to, with gentle practice in what comes harder. What you start to see at home is a child who's more sure of themselves and more willing to try, and who carries that into kindergarten and past it.

I want to be straight with you about the part most parents actually worry about, which is the goodbye at the door. A small child does not understand "I'll be back at five." So we don't pretend they do. We use a settling-in process. Your child starts with short visits while you're still in the room. We stretch the time slowly, on your child's pace, not a schedule on a wall. Some children need a few days. Some need a few weeks. Both are normal, and we don't rush either one. You'll always know how the day went, because a parent who's guessing is a parent who's anxious, and that helps no one.

A few things I believe and won't compromise on. Children belong outside every day they can be, which is why being four minutes from McGolrick Park matters to me. Teachers should know your child's name, your name, and what kind of morning your family had. And a preschool should feel like a warm place a child wants to be, not a smaller, stricter version of school.

We're opening in Fall 2026 on McGuinness Boulevard, for children ages two through six. The building is still being finished, so I can't hand you a glossy photo of the classrooms yet. What I can do is talk with you. If you're considering us for your child, get on our waitlist and reach out. Ask me anything. Our Approach. Every Child is Gifted

We build our program around Howard Gardner's theory of Multiple Intelligences. Eight ways children learn. Linguistic, logical, musical, spatial, bodily, interpersonal, intrapersonal, naturalist. Our job is to notice which way your child learns best, then build a day around their strengths.

We call the framework Discover, Develop, Shine. Discover a child's natural strengths in the first weeks. Develop those strengths through targeted activities. Shine as the child gains confidence and carries that confidence into kindergarten and beyond.
